Youtube Stopped showing recommendations to logged-out users

YouTube has recently made a significant change to its platform, affecting users who are not logged in to their Google accounts or who use Incognito mode. Previously, when users visited YouTube without logging in, they would typically see a selection of video recommendations tailored to their browsing history. However, this is no longer the case.

Instead, users who are logged out or using Incognito mode are greeted with a blank page upon visiting the YouTube homepage. The site displays a message prompting them to start searching and watching videos in order to build a personalized feed. This change was first noticed by Bleeping Computer, though it remains unclear exactly when YouTube implemented it.

Reports indicate that this alteration affects not only users who are logged out, but also those who have cleared their search and watch history while logged in. Interestingly, this isn't the first time YouTube has experimented with limiting recommendations for logged-out users. A similar change was rolled out briefly in August of the previous year before being reverted due to user backlash.

While some users may view this change negatively, particularly those concerned about their privacy, others may welcome the opportunity to curate their own video recommendations from scratch. By eliminating random recommendations, YouTube may empower users to have greater control over their viewing experience.
