Reliance Jio is all set to deploy 5G network in major cities of India by 2023. The telco is already live with its standalone 5G network in over 100 cities and is reaching more urban areas with each passing day. In a recent development, the telco expanded its 5G coverage to cities in Chhattisgarh, Bihar and Jharkhand.

The 16 cities where 5G has been launched include Raipur, Durg, Bhilai, Patna, Muzaffarpur, Ranchi, Jamshedpur, Udupi, Bijapur, Bellary, Kalaburagi, Brahmapur, Rourkela, Kollam, Eluru and Amaravati. These 16 cities are present in eight states - Chhattisgarh, Bihar, Jharkhand, Karnataka, Odisha, Kerala, Maharashtra and Andhra Pradesh.

Since Jio's 5G launch is not commercial but is in beta testing phase, it will be accessible only to users who have been invited by the telco to experience it.

Starting January 14, customers in Chhattisgarh, Bihar and Jharkhand will start getting Jio's welcome offer to use 5G with unlimited data and 1Gbps+ speed. Jio sends the welcome offer only to customers who have either recharged with Rs 239 plan or above or who have recharged with Rs 61 data-voucher.

Jio is deploying 5G SA (standalone), and thus, you will need a 5G smartphone that supports it.
